How Invisalign Works

Invisalign uses clear plastic aligners to move teeth into the desired position. They place just enough pressure to shift smiles so that teeth are more perfectly aligned, allowing everything to work together as it should.

The trays are to be worn 20-22 hours each day, one to two weeks at a time. When finished with one set, you are to move on to the next in the series, putting you one step closer to the finished result.

Is Invisalign Right For Me?

The only way to know if Invisalign is right for you is to schedule a consultation with a member of our team; however, you can feel confident that these clear aligners are capable of treating all types of bite problems, including:

Crowded Teeth

Overcrowding can wreak havoc on your smile because it prevents you from reaching areas of your smile that commonly trap bacteria. When teeth are too close, you’re unable to brush or floss between teeth, putting you at risk for cavities, tooth decay, and gum disease. With Invisalign, though, the aligners can create the necessary space so that you can enjoy better oral health in the future.

Bite Alignment

When an overbite, underbite, crossbite, or open bite is keeping you from feeling good about your appearance or is causing pain to your jaw, Invisalign can bring everything into proper alignment so that your smile looks and feels brand new.

Gaps Between Teeth

Too much space between teeth can be just as frustrating, as food debris can become trapped, resulting in an increased risk for tooth decay and gum disease. By closing the gap with Invisalign clear aligners, though, you not only embrace a more beautiful aesthetic, but your oral and overall health will benefit as well.

The Benefits of Invisalign

The most obvious benefit of Invisalign is its subtlety. Because you cannot see the trays, it makes for a more enjoyable orthodontic experience. But other unique benefits you can expect from this method of treatment include:

  • Better oral health because your teeth and bite are more readily aligned
  • The ability to eat without much restriction because there are no metal brackets and wires you need to worry about
  • Quicker follow-up appointments because there is no wire to tighten or replace
  • Faster results depending on your case

Propel® Accelerated Orthodontics

If you want your teeth to move faster, we offer a solution known as Propel® Accelerated Orthodontics. By making small holes around your teeth, these areas begin to break down the nearby bone so that your pearly whites will start shifting quicker. It’s unlikely to cause any real discomfort, and it’s unlikely you’ll require any kind of recovery because of how minimally invasive it is.

Understanding the Cost of Invisalign

As we mentioned above, we personalize each treatment plan to the patient’s unique dental needs and smile goals. Of course, that also means there isn’t a flat fee when it comes to the cost of Invisalign. If you’re interested in getting an estimate, then we recommend scheduling a consultation with our Sedona, AZ dentist, Dr. Upton. Or, you can read on to learn more general information about the price!

Factors That Affect the Cost of Invisalign

To create your treatment plan, we need to know whether we need to straighten one or both arches of teeth, how complex your case of misalignment is, if additional accessories (like rubber bands) are needed, and how many aligners need to be made. With all of this information in mind, we can provide you with an estimate of the price. However, it’s important to know that there can be additional costs down the line, like if you need replacement aligners for ones that you’ve lost.

Invisalign vs. Smile Direct Club™: Which Costs More?

Mail-order aligners almost always cost less. Don’t let that fool you into thinking that they are a trustworthy and reliable orthodontic treatment, though! There are actually several lawsuits from previous patients who have experienced everything from worsened misalignment to completely loose teeth. This is due to the fact that they don’t conduct thorough exams and ask their patients to take DIY impressions. These are just a few of the many reasons why you should always choose a professional brand, like Invisalign.

Does Dental Insurance Cover Invisalign?

Not always. With that said, there are some dental insurance plans that include a once-in-a-lifetime benefit for orthodontic treatment. So, there is a possibility that your benefits will cover upwards of 50% of the cost! We recommend reviewing the fine print on your plan or calling the helpline on your paperwork to find out more. We are also in-network with Delta Dental Premier and welcome other providers, allowing us to help you utilize your benefits to the fullest.

Options for Making Invisalign Affordable

Second, we welcome flexible financing with CareCredit. As a result, you can space-out your payments into budget-friendly chunks instead of paying for the entire cost of Invisalign at once. There is even little-to-no interest attached for qualified patients!
